Production Challenges and Delays Reported

Manufacturing challenges with stainless steel body reported
In September 2023, reports emerged about ongoing manufacturing challenges with the Cybertruck’s stainless steel body. The air bending process, while innovative, was slower than initially expected, and the laser cutting equipment required frequent adjustments. Tesla was reportedly struggling to achieve the production rates needed for timely customer deliveries, with some estimates suggesting the company was building only a few dozen vehicles per week.
Despite these challenges, Tesla maintained that it was on track for a late 2023 delivery. The company continued to refine its manufacturing processes, including optimizing the air bending presses and improving the laser welding stations. The Cybertruck’s unique design, while visually striking, required entirely new manufacturing approaches that Tesla had to develop from scratch.
