Design Finalized, Pilot Production Expected in 2023

Cybertruck design finalized, pilot production planned for early 2023

By November 2022, Tesla confirmed that the Cybertruck’s design was fully frozen and the vehicle was in the final stages of pre-production development. The company was preparing for pilot production to begin in early 2023 at Gigafactory Texas, where the production line had been largely installed over the previous months. The pilot phase would involve building a limited number of vehicles to work out manufacturing kinks before ramping to full production.

The finalized design closely matched the 2019 concept, with the stainless steel exoskeleton, angular geometric body, and distinctive lighting signature. Internally, the vehicle would use Tesla’s updated architecture with the 4680 battery cells, though the initial production models would likely use a smaller battery pack than originally planned to meet the production timeline.
