Design Freeze and Production Readiness

Cybertruck design finalized for production
By March 2022, Tesla had effectively frozen the Cybertruck’s exterior design. The production vehicle would closely resemble the angular concept unveiled in November 2019, with the signature stainless steel exoskeleton and sharp geometric lines. Internally, however, significant engineering work was underway to adapt the design for mass production, including refining the air bending process for the stainless steel panels and integrating the new 4680 battery architecture.
Tesla continued building out Gigafactory Texas, with the Cybertruck production line planned for a dedicated section of the facility. The factory would need to accommodate the unique manufacturing processes required for the vehicle, including specialized laser welding equipment and the air bending presses that would shape the ultra-hard stainless steel without the traditional stamping dies used for conventional vehicles.
