Just weeks after the Cybertruck unveiling, Tesla updated its production timeline. Elon Musk previously suggested the truck could be in production within a year, but the company now indicates a more realistic timeline of 2-3 years.
The delay reflects the challenges of developing a completely new vehicle platform with unprecedented materials (ultra-hard 30X stainless steel exoskeleton) and manufacturing processes. Tesla will need to build new production lines and tooling specifically for the Cybertruck’s unique design.
Despite the extended timeline, pre-orders continued to climb, surpassing 250,000 by late November. The strong demand suggests consumers remain enthusiastic about the Cybertruck’s ambitious specs and competitive pricing.
