von Holzhausen Drives Cybertruck to Petersen Museum

Franz von Holzhausen drives an early Cybertruck from Texas to Los Angeles

In June 2023, Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen drove an early Cybertruck production build from Gigafactory Texas to the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, covering approximately 800 miles. The drive was a real-world demonstration of the vehicle’s range, reliability, and roadworthiness, and it generated significant media attention. Von Holzhausen shared photos and videos from the journey on social media, showing the Cybertruck on highways, in cities, and at the museum.

The Cybertruck was displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum as part of a special exhibition, giving the public one of the first real-world looks at a near-production vehicle. The drive also demonstrated the Cybertruck’s practical range and charging capabilities, addressing concerns about whether the vehicle’s battery could handle long-distance travel.
