Cybertruck production line setup continues at Gigafactory Texas
In March 2023, Tesla continued refining the Cybertruck production line at Gigafactory Texas. The facility was now largely complete, with the specialized equipment for stainless steel air bending, laser welding, and battery assembly in place. Tesla was working through the final stages of production readiness, including training workers on the new manufacturing processes and testing the equipment with pre-production vehicles.
The Cybertruck’s manufacturing approach represented a significant departure from traditional automotive production. Rather than stamping body panels with dies, Tesla used massive air bending presses to shape the stainless steel sheets. This approach required entirely new tooling and processes, making the Cybertruck one of the most manufacturing-challenging vehicles Tesla had ever attempted to produce.
