Exterior Design

The Cybertruck’s exterior is its most distinctive feature — a sharp-angled, stainless steel exoskeleton that departs radically from conventional truck design.

Stainless Steel Exoskeleton

The body is made from 304-grade stainless steel, 3mm thick, cold-rolled and air-formed rather than stamped. This approach eliminates the need for traditional body panels, paint, and body filler.

  • Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled Stainless Steel — Tesla’s proprietary treatment makes the steel harder than conventional 304 grade
  • Air bending — panels are formed using air pressure rather than stamping dies
  • Laser cutting — precise cuts for doors, bed, and frunk
  • No paint required — the steel is the finish; it resists dents, scratches, and corrosion

Glass

The Cybertruck features ” **Ultra-Hard ClearShield Glass — a transparent aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) ceramic developed with Tesla. It’s significantly harder than conventional automotive glass.

Note: The bulletproof glass famously shattered during the 2019 unveiling event. Production vehicles use a different, less impact-resistant formulation.

Lighting

  • Front: Sharp LED light bar across the front, with integrated turn signals
  • Rear: Full-width LED light bar with animated sequences
  • DRL: Thin LED strips along the body edges

Bed

  • 6.1 ft bed with a powered tonneau cover (steel, motorized)
  • Lockable Vault — under-floor storage compartment
  • Bed Steps — integrated into the side for easy access
  • Tie-down points and 120V/400W power outlet in the bed
