Further Delays Acknowledged

Tesla acknowledged further Cybertruck production delays
Tesla acknowledged that Cybertruck production would likely not begin until 2023, pushing back the timeline once again. The delays were attributed to the complexity of the stainless steel manufacturing process and the need to build specialized production equipment. Growing skepticism about the 2022 target had been building since the Q3 earnings call, and by August 2021 it was becoming clear that the timeline would slip further.
However, Tesla continued to invest heavily in Gigafactory Texas and the development of new manufacturing techniques. The company’s experience with other vehicles gave it confidence in its ability to eventually produce the Cybertruck, but the timeline remained uncertain. The delays were seen as a reflection of the challenges associated with bringing a radically new vehicle design to market.
